ESUM - Zurich Financial Services

A project for

IT services are critical to the success of Eagle Star Unit Managers (ESUM) providing financial services to their customers. ESUM is a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services offering the following Retail Investments:

• Unit Trusts
  
  

• Personal Equity Plans
  
  

• Individual Savings Accounts
  
  

• Managing the control flow during conversion, including checks and sign offs
  

ESUM carried out a major upgrade to their IT systems, involving a conversion to new hardware. The conversion had to run within a tight window of availability across a weekend. It was critical that the conversion processes, including checkpoints, compliance and audit of the processes ran smoothly.

ESUM asked Isabel Evans to help with planning and running the controls for both the dress rehearsals and the live conversion weekend. Isabel worked with the IT and business teams to identify a step by step plan for the implementation, including:

• Identification and documentation of checks and sign off points throughout the conversion phases
  
  

• Identification and documentation of control flow through the processes

• Identification and documentation of risks and contingencies

• Managing the control flow during conversion, including checks and sign off

• Problem management during conversion

• Reporting progress to management during conversion
